Old-fashioned Hair Removal Methods
Bleaching is not really a method of hair removal, but rather a
way to make the hair less visible. This is particularly useful for
areas that already have thin but dark hair and so remarkable as
the arms, face or neck. Bleaching is performed by applying a chemical
to the desired area, which removes the hair pigment.
Waxing is an effective method to remove large amounts of hair
at a time. In this method wax is warmed to allow you to easily spread
on the skin in the direction of the hair. The hair becomes embedded
in the wax, which cools and firms enter the hair. The wax is then
removed quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth, pulling
the hair follicles.
Sugar waxing is a popular form of hair removal that works the same
way traditional waxing. A sugary substance similar to the thick
caramel is spread on the skin in the direction of the hair. The
hair becomes embedded in the caramel. A strip of cloth or paper
is caressed the caramel, then quickly removed in the opposite direction
of hair growth, pulling the hair follicles. The advantage of this
method over traditional waxing is the clean. The sugar substance
is water soluble and can be removed easily as the wax by rinsing
with water.
Shaving is the most temporary hair removal because it only cuts
the hair at the skin surface. Shaving does not make your hair thicker,
darker, or grow faster or slower. However, the short hair shaft
may be more sensitive as it grows because it has a blunt tip instead
of the normal tapered tip. Shaving should be done after applying
some type of moisturizer to the skin to help the razor glide over
the skin, not cut or scratch. Common moisturizers include water,
shaving cream, shampoo or body wash.
Physically pulling the hair follicle is a hair of the common and
relatively inexpensive. None of these methods change the color,
texture, or density of hair. The hair takes longer to grow back
because you have to push the skin's surface before being noticed.
Because hair grows at different rates, some of the hair that has
been physically removed may take longer to push pulling the hair
follicle can damage the follicle enough time to avoid producing
more hair.
